James Clark, the talented, speedy wide receiver from New Smyrna Beach, has narrowed his more than 20 scholarship offers to four schools. All he has to do now is dwindle the list to one.
Clark took a step in that direction this weekend with an official recruiting visit to Nebraska, where he begins a three-campus tour this month as he approaches National Signing Day (Feb. 6). He is expected to reveal his choice in an NSD school ceremony.
After this weekend's Nebraska trip, he will be at Clemson the following weekend and then at UF for the weekend of Jan. 25. The No. 14-ranked player in the Sentinel's 2013 Central Florida Super60 has already visited Northwestern, the other school in his final four.
Clark, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, capped off a stellar career with the Barracudas by catching?49 passes for 1,112 yards and eight touchdowns this past season. He helped lead NSB to a 9-0 regular season before the 'Cudas lost in the first round of the playoffs to Winter Haven 24-20.
Florida made an official scholarship offer to Clark last weekend while he was in Gainesville on an unofficial visit. That made up for Clark's missing out on what he thought was supposed to be an in-home visit from UF head coach Will Muschamp last month. Clark said it was a misunderstanding.
Georgia WR DeMarcus Robinson became the Gators' fifth wide receiver pledge of the 2013 recruiting class on Monday, but Clark said that will not affect his final four.
"Not at all," he texted on Tuesday. "Still interested."
