Geelong?s home of performing arts is excited to usher in a new season of programs for all tastes.
Geelong Performing Arts Centre is opposite the leafy Johnstone Park in the city?s heart, and complementing the musical, cultural and theatrical events in the historic Playhouse Theatre, GPAC also presents productions at Deakin University?s Costa Hall by the waterfront.
Theatre lovers will be enticed by the line-up of productions to be enjoyed this year including: Back to Back Theatre?s Ganesh Versus the Third Reich in February; Kinship ? Fire, Brolga and ID by internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre; Canadian Ronnie Burkett?s marionettes in the new work, Penny Plain; Frankenstein; and the quirky love story of Midsummer.
The best new Australian writing will be featured with Daniel Keene?s moving play Boxman, the delicious Food by Steve Rogers, Arena Theatre?s Cautionary Tales for Children and the season ?nale by much loved Australian actors Samuel Johnson and Max Gillies, The Haunting of Daniel Gartrell.
GPAC?s general manager Jill Smith said the season will take audiences on a journey to new places, provide fresh insights, challenge our thinking, entertain and inspire us. GPAC has announced that Deakin University is the naming rights sponsor of the theatre season for the next two years.

For music lovers, January kicks off with the iconic Australian band Icehouse?s Primitive Colours encore celebration on January 13, the Sydney Ellis Blues Tour on January 25, 12 dates of Les Miserables from January 25 to February 9, and Moonlight the Six Marketeers at Minya Vineyard and Winery on the evening of January 26.
